1 Day Maymyo (Pyin Oo Lwin)

8.30am: In the morning, we depart from Mandalay for a scenic 2-hour ride to the beautiful hill post of Pyin Oo Lwin. Situated at the height of 1,000m above the sea level, Pyin Oo Lwin still keeps a vivid impression of an old colonial town. The British also called Pyin Oo Lwin as Maymyo after their famous solider at that time – Colonel James May. 

Pyin Oo Lwin today is home to some tribal folks that immigrated from the British administration, mostly Nepalese and Hindus.  Hop on a horse cart and enjoy a relaxing ride around the town when passing through typical colonial buildings with chimneys, turrets and gables.

If you want to get a glimpse of the local life, you can pay a visit to the market where natives gather and sell wares. The Botanical Garden is also a nice place to visit. Here, you can admire the beauty a great number of flora and fauna from across the globe. The garden was found by Sir Harcourt Butler – a former governor of Burma. 

After that, return to Mandalay in the afternoon.

- Meeting & Ending point: At client's hotel in Mandalay centre

- Dress standard: Dress code in Myanmar is pretty strict owing to its Buddhist culture. Therefore, you should bring lightweight and long - sleeved clothes. When entering religious sites, your shoulders and knees should be covered. Furthermore, comfortable footwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a rain coat are also necessary things to pack. And always remember to check the weather before you go.
