Itinerary
8.30m: Our Mandalay full day sightseeing tour will start with a visit to the famous Mahamuni pagoda where preserves one of the 5 most likeliest Buddha images in the world. The statue is covered in a thick layer of gold leaves applied by male worshipers.
We proceed to visit the “City of Immortal” – Amarapura next. It used to be the royal capital of Burma before Mandalay took over. Here, we pay a visit to one of the most honored monastery of Mahagandayon where a large number of novices live and study in.
Stop at one of local workshops (optional: gold leaf beating, wood carving, tapestry weaving and marionette making).
Next visit the Kyauktawgyi Pagoda where houses the Great Marble Statue – a gigantic Buddha image created from a single piece of marble. People said that it took 10,000 men to transport the statue from the riverside to the current location. Observe this incredible man – made masterpiece before we move to Kuthodaw pagoda. Knowing as “the world largest book” for having 729 marble slabs inscribed with Buddha teachings. Then, we pay a visit to the last standing building of the Royal Capital from the 19th century – Shwenandaw pagoda to contemplate it stunning woodwork.
In the late afternoon, we head to the longest teak bridge in the world - U Bein bridge. Constructed in 1782 stretching 1.2km across Taungthaman lake, U Bein bridge is an ideal place to enjoy the magical sunset of the Golden Land.
Back to pick up point in the late afternoon. End of services.
TRIP NOTES:
- Duration: 7 to 8 hours
- Meeting & Ending point: At client's hotel in Mandalay centre
- Dress standard: Dress code in Myanmar is pretty strict owing to its Buddhist culture. Therefore, you should bring lightweight and long - sleeved clothes. When entering religious sites, your shoulders and knees should be covered. Furthermore, comfortable footwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a rain coat are also necessary things to pack. And always remember to check the weather before you go.
- Your Trip: Your tour will be in a small group of a maximum of 10 people.
- Child Policy: Free of charge for children under 5-year olds go together with parents. Children from 6 are fully charged as an adult. Please inform us when booking.
