Itinerary
17.00: Our guide picks you up at the meeting point - The Immanuel Baptist Church (next to the Mahabandoola Garden near Yangon city hall).
Your trip starts by walking around colonial era buildings which are century old with magnificent architecture like High Court Building, Inland Water Transport Building, Myanmar Port Authority. Then walk through some city’s main markets. It is good chance to explore the local life of Burmese in Yangon.
Next, we will explore the street of Shwe Bontha where a great number of local shop selling all kinds of products from secondhand electronics to footwear.
After passing through several of Buddhist and Hindu constructions, we head to Chinatown – another shopping heaven in Yangon where local people selling everything from gold to vegetables.
Upon arrival, we will stop at a sidewalk tea shop for some snack and drink. Grab a plastic stool, sit down and enjoy a cup of hot green tea or ice - cold sugarcane juice. Or if the hunger strikes you, we will take you through a bustling area of street vendors where offers numerous local specialties, all kinds of fruits, vegetables, etc.
Afterwards, proceed to the 19th street – a bustling area crammed with open - air restaurants serving many delicious BBQ dishes from meats to veggies and very good beer too. If you are looking for a place to taste street food of Yangon, 19th street is definitely where you should come and visit. Your guide will treat you to some of their favourite snacks and a beer to finish off this unique exploration of downtown Yangon.
TRIP NOTES:
- Duration: 2 hours
- Meeting point: The Immanuel Baptist Church (next to the Mahabandoola Garden near Yangon city hall).
- Ending point: 19th street. From here, there are plenty of taxis and it will take few minutes to get to most central Yangon hotels. Your guide will be able to assist you with getting a taxi, if you like.
- Dress standard: Comfortable footwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a rain coat are also necessary things to pack. And always remember to check the weather before you go.
- Your Trip: Your tour will be in a small group of a maximum of 10 people.
- Child Policy: Free of charge for children under 5-year olds go together with parents. Children from 6 are fully charged as an adult. Please inform us when booking.
